You Will Work in a Team Environment to:
• Lead the standardization of Universal Diagnostics bioinformatics research framework and internal tools
• Build for significant growth and scaling challenges as we transition from research to product/clinical development
• Oversee engineering of robust and reproducible data pipelines that enable cutting edge liquid biopsy research
• Work and advise on developing cutting-edge signal processing and machine learning approaches for complex analysis of large genomic data sets designed for early cancer detection
• Work at the intersection of signal processing, machine learning research, software engineering, clinical and biological data
Your Background Includes:
• PhD or M.S. with equivalent experience in a relevant, quantitative field such as computer science, computational biology, statistics, mathematics, bioinformatics, or equivalent
• 5+ years of post-study experience in industry with bioinformatics applications, data science model development, artificial intelligence, statistical analyses, infrastructure, automation, and/or software engineering
• 5+ years of experience managing and mentoring team of 10+ computer scientists, bioinformaticians and/or statisticians
• 3+ years experience in use of Jira, Confluence and Git (or similar), AWS, Nextflow and Docker, in a regulated environment following software development lifecycle practices
• Excellent knowledge of software testing practices (Unit testing, Integration testing)
• Other languages are an advantage (e.g. C, C++, Golang, Rust)
• Hands-on experience with statistical and machine learning concepts in big data analysis
• Robust history of delivering major technical projects or analyses, including experience in a technical leadership role
Additional:
• Knowledge of the Common Workflow Language (CWL) and any hands-on experience with its various implementation is a plus
• Experience in analyzing one or more of the following biological modalities: genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics (RNA-seq), Hi-C, ATAC-seq with fundamental understanding of bioinformatics, including molecular or cancer biology are a plus
• Familiarity with regulatory processes in IVD environment is a plus
• Ability to understand and communicate scientific information effectively with colleagues from a variety of disciplines, including biological, bioinformatics, clinical, nonclinical, and quality subject matter experts
